Internationally acclaimed jazz saxophonist Charles Lloyd will perform with his New Quartet on the Rhodes campus on April 12, 2012. A Memphis native and alumnus of Manassas High School, Lloyd will be making his first appearance in Memphis since 1964, when he appeared with Cannonball Adderly. Lloyd has been among the most respected jazz musicians in the world since the early 1960s and has performed with and led groups that have included such notable artists as Chico Hamilton, Don Cherry, Billy Higgins, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Tony Williams, Keith Jarrett, Cecil McBee, and Jack DeJohnette, among others. The Charles Lloyd New Quartet features Jason Moran (piano), Eric Harland (drums), and Reuben Rogers (bass).
