Black Student Association's Distinguished Alumni

Established in 1998, the Black Student Association's Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes those African-American alumni whose record of outstanding personal achievement and service to others has inspired Rhodes students and brought honor to their alma mater.

The presentation of the BSA Distinguished Alumni Award is part of the Alumni Convocation each year during Homecoming/ Reunion Weekend. Nominees for the BSA Distinguished Alumni Award are eligible and will be considered for the Distinguished Alumni Award, the Young Alumni Award or the Distinguished Service Award, as appropriate.

The 2013 BSA Distinguished Alumni Award winner, Patricia Spears Jones '73, recites her poetry to guests at the Black Student Association reunion reception. Visit our YouTube channel to watch Spears' acceptance speech (35:00 mark) at the Alumni Convocation ceremony on October 25, 2013.
